The doctor knelt beside the shattered cast, hands moving through broken plaster with urgency.
Something caught his eye.
A sealed plastic sleeve.
The woman screamed, panic tearing through her voice.
“No! Don’t open that!”
Too late.
The plastic crinkled as he pulled it free. Inside—documents.
Folded. Hidden.
Deliberate.
He opened them slowly, the room holding its breath.
“Keep her unable to walk until the inheritance is signed…”
The words fell like stones.
Silence crushed the room.
The girl’s eyes lifted, locking onto the woman.
“You did this to my mother too… didn’t you?”
The woman’s face cracked.
Power drained. Fear replaced it.
Security footsteps echoed in the hallway.
The doctor flipped through more pages—medical notes, forged signatures, altered reports.
“This isn’t just fraud,” he said quietly. “This is abuse.”
The girl stood still.
Watching.
Waiting.
Because deep down—
She already knew.
