Chapter 4: My Mother’s Fear
That evening, my mother walked into the hospital room and saw my notebook.
Her face changed instantly.
When I told her I was trying to find Henry, she froze. Then she told me to stop.
At first, I thought she was being cruel. Grandma was dying, and this was the only thing she had asked for.
But my mother’s anger had something underneath it.
Fear.
She said I did not understand what I was doing. She said truth could hurt more than dreams, and some things were supposed to stay in the past.
I asked what she was hiding, but she only begged me to let Grandma go peacefully.
Three days later, she came back with red eyes and shaking hands, pleading again for me to stop.
