Victor stared at me like he was seeing me for the first time.

I walked closer.

“You called me powerless last night.”

His jaw trembled.

“I used to trace money for the Department of Justice,” I said. “Now I teach corporations how not to be destroyed by men like you.”

Elian fought against the agents.

“Mara, please!”

She looked at him with dry eyes.

“Don’t say my name.”

That broke him more than the handcuffs did.

Reporters outside captured everything.

The groom being taken from his own wedding.

His father arrested beneath a wall of roses.
