The retaliation came almost immediately.
Leo was first suspended, then expelled, as if removing him could erase what had happened. Soon after, Jack lost his job under circumstances that felt far too convenient to be innocent. The message was clear: know your place, keep your head down, and stop asking questions.
But pressure has a way of revealing character.
Threats came dressed in polished language. Legal warnings. Private intimidation. Even official voices trying to make resistance look reckless. Jack saw what they were doing. They wanted fear to do what truth had not. They wanted him tired, cornered, and ashamed.
Instead, he gave Leo a lesson no elite school could ever teach.
He told his son that dignity is not something powerful people hand to you when they are in a good mood. It is something you protect, even when the cost is high. Especially then.
That truth carried them through the worst days. And then, when it seemed the door was closing for good, hidden evidence surfaced. It showed manipulation behind the scenes, selective enforcement, and a deliberate effort to twist the story. What they had felt in their bones was finally visible to everyone else.
They had not imagined the injustice. They had been targeted.
